ACR Show Announces CPD Accredited Seminars

Visitors are invited to boost their skills and knowledge in the Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre, sponsored by Chemours; the Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Theatre, sponsored by Klima-Therm and the Training & Careers Theatre, sponsored by Toshiba.

Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre

Visitors to the Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre will benefit from a whole range of topical and informative seminar sessions. Peter Dinnage, technical director at IDS Climalife will assess the impact of the F-Gas regulation, while in a separate session, Mark Hughes, business development manager for Opteon Refrigerants will attempt the R-404A challenge.

The hugely popular “Greening of the Supermarkets” (The ACR Show 2014) is back, with figures from each of the leading supermarkets giving us an update on their progress over the last two years.

Speaking at The ACR Show for the first time, the Association of European Component Manufacturers (ASERCOM) will discuss the use of refrigeration frequency inverters to save energy and improve cooling quality in refrigeration and air conditioning.

From Anti-Fog Technology talking “Pain in the frozen food aisle” to Chemours’ choice topic “Waiting in the Wings – low GWP mildly flammable blends for the near future,” the wide variety of talks in this theatre make it a not to be missed programme.

Members of the Institute of Refrigeration IOR will converge on the Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre on Thursday 18 February for their annual conference. “Emissions, Energy and Eco-design” and will explore how energy and emission saving in component and system design are being achieved.

Commenting on the decision to sponsor the Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre, Mark Hughes, business development manager for Chemours said the company viewed The ACR Show as very important one year into the F-Gas phase down. He said, “It’s an opportunity for us to help the ACR industry understand the challenges it is facing”.

Training & Careers Theatre

The new Training & Careers Theatre, sponsored by Toshiba Carrier will cover a range of topics pertinent to the industry, including TM44 inspections – reasons and benefits; the new Building Controls Professional Assessment and how it is helping to raise standards in the controls sector; the Index SEI that is destined to replace COP (Coefficient of Performance); the heat pump market and the effects of the government ditching green incentives; the PURR report; major issues of interest in BIM; energy efficiency from an engineer’s perspective; System Efficiency Optimisation and F-Gas, Elite Project & Future Changes in the Industry and much more besides.

The theatre will also host an “Association Day” on Thursday 18th February, when visitors can look forward to presentations from The Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES), British Refrigeration Association (BRA), HEVAC and Heat Pump Association (HPA).

Andrew Keough, engineering manager, Toshiba Carrier, will present on “New Developments in Refrigerants (HFO, CO2)”, while Adam Walker, marketing consultant at TSI International Recruitment will ask the industry to “Stop whingeing about the skills shortage” in what looks set to be a lively presentation.

Refcom secretary Stephen Crocker has chosen “F-Gas, Elite Project & Future Changes in the Industry” as the subject of his talk; while Graeme Fox, AREA president will cover “Refrigerant Handling: Alternative Gases Skills Crisis”. Neil Hitching, UK sales manager for Toshiba will give two talks in this theatre, “Application of SEER & COP for VRF Systems” and “BREEAM Pump Down & BSEN378 Guidance.”

Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Theatre

Thomas Nowak, secretary general of the European Heat Pump Association is speaking at The ACR Show for the first time in 2016. Thomas will discuss the EU heat pump markets and the need for government support to unleash the technologies’ full potential.

There will also be talks from the HPA and B&ES, while Mike Nankivell will give an F Gas regulation update on behalf of ACRIB.

In what is set to be a huge draw for visitors, Fujitsu will look at “Training for the 21st Century”; Dr Andy Lewry, principle consultant at BRE will discuss bridging the performance gap; Tim Boxall, technical sales support manager for Klima-Therm will talk about cooling from light and the future of VRF.

Other talks include: “Why humidification and De-humidification”; “Mechanical Ventilation with Heat recovery for commercial Applications”; “Collaborations on cooling London underground,” and “Are you in control of your Building & Energy Management System?”
