The 19th edition of the UNEP-IIR-AREA-CSG European Conference on “The Latest Technologies in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning” will take place on June 10-11, 2021, as a mix of online and physical events. The physical part will take place at the Polytechnic University in Milan, Italy.

The event aims to bring together globalexperts in HVAC&R to discuss all the latest clean cooling and natural refrigerant solutions for not only refrigeration and AC, but also heating and heat pumps.

The organizers of the event are the United Nation’s Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), the European Air conditioning and Refrigeration Association (AREA) and Centro Studi Galileo, an Italian HVAC&R training provider.

The mixed format of the event will allow for both in-person and online networking. Participants can decide up to one month in advance whether they wish to participate in person or remotely.

The focus of the conference will be how the latest advances in refrigeration and AC solutions can help tackle the climate crisis and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Discussion topics will include renewable energy, training and certification, and the latest developments in regulatory standards and safety. Session will include discussions on f-gas phase downs, control systems, and new technologies for refrigeration like evaporative cooling, magnetic cooling and district cooling.

The program will contain presentations from organizations like the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO), and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate (DG Clima). Also present will be a number of HVAC&R industry organizations, including AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), ASERCOM (Association of European Refrigeration Component Manufacturers), and Eurovent.

The conference is held biennially and the last conference in 2019 gathered 350 participants from around the globe.
