Mitsubishi Electric has launched the first VRF air conditioning system to make use of the lower GWP, “mildly flammable” refrigerant R32.
As Europe and the rest of the world transition away from R410A, the UK launch of Mitsubishi Electric’s R32 City Multi YNW range marks the first use of this refrigerant in a VRF system.
The flammability of R32, an A2L refrigerant, continues to restrict its application in larger VRF systems. These new units, however, in sizes from 22kW to 34kW, cover the lower end of the VRF market, such as small commercial offices and retail establishments.
Mitsubishi insists that this new product in combination with R32 splits and/or Mitsubishi’s R32 Hybrid VRF systemallows customers to use one single lower GWP refrigerant across a complete building or an entire network.
The new City Multi YNW, in both heat recovery and heat pump versions, will be available to specify from next month in the UK, with models in stock from January 20. The new units were also simultaneously launched in Germany today, with a roll-out across Europe expected to follow.
With a range of ducted and 4-way ceiling cassette indoor units available, the systems are said to work with the comprehensive range of advanced controllers to ensure effective and efficient operation.
“Under the growing pressure of the F-gas phase down regulations, the market is demanding viable and positive solutions which are future proof for businesses and last the full lifecycle of the product,” explained Mark Grayston, head of Mitsubishi UK’s product marketing department.
“Customers are looking for products that meet both current and future legislation and with the launch of the UK’s first R32 VRF systems, we are delighted to be able to offer the market a complete range of lower GWP solutions,” adds Grayston.
Mitsubishi Electric has also announced a 10-year warranty for all its tier 1 Diamond Quality Partners on all air conditioning equipment.
