CHINA: The first phase of Carrier China’s new manufacturing facility in Shanghai is now in operation.
Scheduled for completion in 2021, the facility will enable the Chinese arm of the US manufacturer to produce airside and light commercial HVAC products.
With an investment of over $110m, the new manufacturing facility will cover an area of approximately 95,000m². It will house Carrier China’s compressor production lines by end of 2018 and chiller production lines in 2021 when it reaches its full operational capacity.
“Carrier entered China in 1987 as the first US HVAC manufacturer in China. In the last three decades, we have witnessed and supported the urbanisation of China,” said Carrier China HVAC vice president George Li. “The rise of green buildings in China has boosted the market needs for energy efficient building solutions including and the construction of this new plant is one of the ways we can better serve our customers, by making environmentally sustainable and advanced HVAC solutions more accessible to our local and regional customers.”
The office building is designed to meet the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards while the manufacturing facilities are designed to LEED Silver standards.
