Daikin is reported to have paid around JPY200m (€1.6m) to settle a court case alleging that one of its air conditioning units was the source of a warehouse fire in 2011.

The incident in May of 2011 occurred at a cosmetics company in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, causing an estimated JPY675m (€5.5m) in stock and property damages. The fire was said to have been caused by a faulty condensing unit on the second floor of the three-storey building.
