The HVACR industry has experienced rapid technological change in the past 20 years and this is likely to continue for the foreseeable future, according to Peter Cashel, national dealer and commercial manager at Fujitsu Australia.

Air conditioning products sold today, he said, have advanced greatly driven by a need for greater efficiency.

Cashel commented on the industry following the launch of the HVACR Leadership Awards this month. Cashel is this year's guest judge for CCN's 2017 awards program.

“One of the biggest challenges we face today is rising energy and utility costs, this is what is driving the growth of energy efficient products,” Cashel said.

“In such a fast moving environment it is important to celebrate and recognise key achievements across our industry.

“We need to recognise our peers who are setting the standards within our industry as well as the rising stars who will shape the future of our industry.”

Cashel said it was his father who guided him into the refrigeration and air conditioning industry (RAC).

“I am proud to be a member of the RAC community and wish all the nominees the best of luck,” he said.

Cashel is an executive member of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturers Association of Australia and a board member for Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA) and the Consumer Electronics Suppliers Association (CESA).

This year's HVACR Leadership Awards are sponsored by ABB, Airefrig Australia, Daikin, Temperzone and Toshiba.

Winners will be announced at the annual CCN Live event on August 24, 2017. The theme for this year's CCN Live event is
“Trade Talk 2017: The Way Forward” with the speaker program sponsored by Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA).
